A
Friend To All
`He
left the heavenly courts for a life of reproach and insult,
and a death of shame. He who was rich in heaven's priceless
treasure, became poor, that through His poverty we might be
rich.' (DA417)
`So
full of sympathy and love was His attitude that the poorest
were not afraid to come to Him. He was kind to all, easily
approached by the most lowly.' (WM170)
|
Jesus
`never forces His company upon anyone. He interests Himself in
those who need Him. Gladly will He enter the humblest home,
and cheer the lowliest heart.' (DA800) |
`Never
were those repelled that sought His grace. A homeless
wanderer, reproach and penury His daily lot, He lived to
minister to the needs and lighten the woes of men, to plead
with them to accept the gift of life. The waves of mercy,
beaten back by those stubborn hearts, returned in a stronger
tide of pitying, inexpressible love.' (GC20)
`No
circumstances of birth or nationality, no condition of life,
can turn away His love from the children of men. To every
soul, however sinful, Jesus says, If you would only ask Me, I
will give you living water.' (DA194)
He
`knows us individually, and is touched with the feeling of our
infirmities. He knows us all by name. He knows the very house
in which we live, the name of each occupant. Every soul is as
fully known to Jesus as if he were the only one for whom the
Saviour died. The distress of every one touches His heart. The
cry for aid reaches His ear.' (DA479/480)
`Jesus
is attractive. He is full of love, mercy, and compassion. He
proposes to be our friend.' (ST87-03-17)
